Steel Supply & Engineering's SDS2 capabilities bring Building Information Modeling services to the structural design process. The company provides three dimensional models of structural steel details to aid in the engineering and design process. According to Roy Lorenz, "BIM is becoming an essential tool in the design and construction of complex structures. Our forward thinking customers add us to the design team early and realize tens of thousands of dollars in savings on construction costs in the process. In one case we worked closely with the architect and owner to improve a roof systems structural integrity while saving more than $100 thousand in construction costs, all while maintaining the architect's aesthetic vision for the building." The Haworth expansion project subsequently earned several regional and national awards, including LEED gold certification.
